These teams are presented in no order and should not be considered the same as class rankings. Here’s a look at the top players in the Senior class:
First Team:
- F Nila Blackford, Manual – Nila averaged a double-double on the season for the Crimson and she was one of the more physically impressive players I saw all season long. Averaging 19 points and 11 rebounds, Blackford was the 7th region player of the year and heads to Kent State for her college career.
- G Savannah Wheeler, Boyd County – 2019’s Miss Basketball saw her career end at the Sweet 16 yesterday but Wheeler will be expected to step in right away and compete for playing time at Marshall next season. Finishing her season at just under 30 points per game, Wheeler was the most impressive scorer in the state all year long.
- G Emma King, Lincoln County – Headed to Kentucky next season, King finished a sterling career averaging 19 points and 7 rebounds per game. Part of a balanced Lincoln County team, Emma shot the ball well all year long and should fit Matthew Mitchell’s wide open system very well next season.
- G Maaliya Owens, Scott County – A 20 point per game scorer, Owens is the best player on the best team in the state. Maaliya has had a tremendous career and could end it by cutting the nets at Rupp Arena on Sunday. After shooting 42% from 3 this season, you should look for Owens to play a lot right away at Tennessee Tech next season.
- G/F Dais Ja Trotter, Seneca – Possibly the most dominant player in the state this season, Brown had a monstrous season for Seneca. Averaging 29 points and 11 rebounds for the Redhawks, Trotter show a crazy 68% from the field for the season. Trotter has yet to pick a college destination.
- G Ivy Turner, Danville – One of the most valuable players in the state to her team, Turner is still debating her college choice and could see more offers come her way. Averaging 26 points and 8 rebounds for the Lady Admirals, Ivy has consistently shown the ability to score all over the court and should see the court as a true freshman in college next year.
Second Team:
- G Hayley Harrison, George Rogers Clark
- G Kiara Pearl, Eastern
- G Aaliyah Hampton, Christian County
- G Lauren Schwartz, Ryle
- C Cameron Browning, Male
- G Destyne Jackson, Frederick Douglass
Third Team:
- G Jada Higgins, Knott County Central
- F Mikayla Kinnard, Eastern
- F Joelle Johnson, Male
- G Jasmine Elder, Butler
- C Emma Hacker, Menifee County
