Grassroots Preview: Always 100 17U
It’s that time of year again, and we are just beginning to roll out our grassroots team previews. We will work through all of the teams in 17U, 16U, and 15U throughout the state of Indiana, and we will include anyone who has provided us with information on their teams. We’ll start with the 17U age group first, and to be fair we’ll cover programs alphabetically. So with that said, here is a look into the 17U teams that are included in the Always 100 program, organized by Mr. Vernard Hollins.

35 | Ayanna Patterson | 6-3 | W | 2022 | Homestead |
43 | Taylor Westgate | 6-1 | F/C | 2020 | Oak Hill |
Overview: The Attack team is the flagship team for the
Always 100
program. Ayanna Patterson is the biggest high-major draw here, as she has earned close to 50 offers already, just one season into her career. RaShaya Kyle has also received a ton of mid to high-major interest & offers, but she recently narrowed her list to Indiana, Michigan State, and Purdue. With Jaci Jones (Detroit Mercy), Rylie Parker (Purdue-Fort Wayne), Caily Bolser (Toledo), and Sydney Graber (Central Michigan) already committed to Division-I schools, that just shows the quality of depth this team possesses. Kaylee Patton is a strong and skillful wing who returns, while Junior All-Star Taylor Westgate and Sophomore Division-I recruit Zakia Rasheed are new to the team.
Always 100 -EDMONDS
Coach Keith Edmonds
No. | Name | Ht. | Pos. | Class | High School |
0 | Peyton Gulley | 5-2 | PG | 2020 | Ft. Wayne Concordia |
1 | Alexis German | 5-3 | G | 2020 | Prairie Heights |
5 | Mackenzie Green | 5-3 | G | 2020 | Union City |
12 | Caroline Morris | 5-10 | F | 2020 | Penn |
21 | Addison Bayman | 5-6 | G | 2020 | Woodlan |
32 | Delane Sheets | 5-7 | W | 2021 | Ft. Wayne Carroll |
33 | Olivia Shearer | 5-6 | G | 2020 | Columbia City |
34 | Dori Javins | 5-7 | F | 2020 | Bishop Luers |
Overview: The Edmonds team isn’t very big in stature, with no player taller than 5-10, but they do have solid guard play throughout their roster. Addison Bayman is a versatile and talented combo guard who can score it at all levels. Olivia Shearer is a very good perimeter shooter who needs very little space or time to get her shot away. Delane Sheets is a strong and skilled wing who plays like a point forward, while Alexis German is a tough-nosed little guard who likes to score the ball in bunches. This would be a good team for small colleges to follow.
Always 100 -JORDAN
Coach Justin Jordan
No. | Name | Ht. | Pos. | Class | High School |
2 | Jasmine Anderson | 5-8 | F | 2022 | Ft. Wayne Carroll |
3 | Olivia Hoeppner | 5-6 | G | 2020 | Ft. Wayne Carroll |
5 | Alaya Chapman | 5-10 | F | 2020 | Ft. Wayne South Side |
15 | Ally Lorntz | 5-5 | PG | 2020 | Angola |
21 | Malia Williams | 5-6 | G | 2020 | Ft. Wayne Carroll |
23 | Meg McDonald | 5-7 | F | 2020 | Huntington North |
34 | Lydia Reimbold | 5-9 | W | 2020 | Bishop Luers |
44 | Janna Fee | 5-6 | W | 2020 | Angola |
Overview: The Jordan team has a mixture of solid guards and wings. Ally Lorntz is a talented point guard who has drawn some Division-I interest in the past. Lydia Reimbold is a long and skillfully versatile wing who has already committed to Bellarmine. I also think Alaya Chapman has some nice athletic tools to offer a small college on the frontline. I would say a variety of Division-II, Division-III, and NAIA schools would enjoy watching this group all Spring & Summer.
Always 100 -WRIGHT
Coach Larry Wright
No. | Name | Ht. | Pos. | Class | High School |
2 | Molly Ream | 5-6 | G | 2020 | Bishop Dwenger |
4 | Ellie Vermillion | 5-5 | G | 2020 | Marion |
12 | Bailey Tucker | 5-6 | W | 2020 | Frankton |
22 | Meghan Busick | 5-6 | G | 2020 | Bellmont |
25 | McKenzie McMahon | 5-10 | F | 2020 | Bellmont |
40 | Carissa Wiegman | 5-11 | F/C | 2020 | Bishop Dwenger |
McKenna Dietsch | 5-3 | PG | 2021 | Adams Central
Emma Keane | 5-7 | G | 2020 | Bellmont
Carly Holley | 5-9 | F | 2020 | Adams Central |
Overview: Just like the Edmonds and Jordan teams, the 17U Wright team has a handful of really nice perimeter players as well. Molly Ream is an underrated combo guard who can score the ball or distribute, she’s athletic, and she plays with a good motor. Ellie Vermillion was the unsung hero at times this year for a good Marion squad. She’s a very good perimeter shooter with toughness. Bailey Tucker has really improved in the last year, and she adds another perimeter shooting threat to this team. I will also be curious to see how McKenna Dietsch performs, as she came to Adams Central from Leo H.S. with a lot of fanfare and then had a nice high school season. This is another team I think small colleges will follow around this grassroots season.
