Grassroots Preview: Indy Magic 17U
I’ll start today by previewing the Indy Magic 17U teams. The Indy Magic have done a nice job over the last few years of assembling competitive teams primarily composed of Central Indiana kids. Usually they have a couple of teams in each age group, and this year is no different. In the 17U division, they’ll roll out three teams with solid prospects top to bottom, organized by Mr. Justin Blanding.
Indy Magic-Andrus

No. | Name | Ht. | Pos. | Class | High School |
4 | Sierra Hinds | 5-6 | G | 2021 | Hamilton Heights |
15 | Bridget Dunn | 6-2 | F | 2021 | Carmel |
20 | Tally Seitz | 5-9 | W | 2021 | Carmel |
21 | Addison Hill | 5-8 | F | 2021 | Greenfield-Central |
24 | Ryan Viele | 5-7 | G | 2022 | Hamilton Southeastern |
25 | Kate Clarke | 6-0 | W | 2022 | Carmel |
30 | Regan Newman | 5-8 | F | 2020 | Fishers |
34 | Nicole Cunningham | 5-6 | W | 2020 | Guerin Catholic |
42 | MyKayla Moran | 6-3 | C | 2022 | Hamilton Heights |
Overview: The Andrus group, though younger on the whole than the other two Magic 17U teams, might be the most talented. Kate Clarke is one of the best Freshmen in the state. She has wiry strength, she can shoot it with range, and she’s a budding offensive star for Carmel. Bridget Dunn is one of the best Sophomores in the state, and she has a unique combination of perimeter skill and shooting, plus the height and length to play in the mid-post or around the basket. Both are solid athletes as well. MyKayla Moran is a still-developing true post, but she runs the floor well, she has a solid frame, great length, and she should develop into quite the mismatch down the road. Tally Seitz is a skillful point forward type who can play comfortably around the perimeter or even in the mid-post some with her strength. Ryan Viele is another nice, young prospect. She is long, very fast and athletic, and she always plays with a motor. As soon as her skillset catches up to her physical talent, watch out. This group will have a wide array of schools following them, from high-major Division-I schools, all the way down through the small college ranks. They should be fun to watch develop.

1 | Madison Stamm | 5-8 | W | 2020 | Anderson Prep |
11 | Samantha Shrum | 5-9 | F | 2020 | Cloverdale |
13 | Payton Seay | 5-5 | PG | 2023 | Noblesville |
14 | Bailey Poore | 5-6 | W | 2020 | Hamilton Southeastern |
22 | Paige Gregory | 5-8 | G | 2020 | Mooresville |
30 | Rylie Stephens | 5-10 | W | 2020 | Triton Central |
45 | Lauren Morris | 5-4 | PG | 2020 | Hamilton Southeastern |
52 | Lydia Stullken | 6-1 | C | 2020 | Fishers |
Overview: The Blanding team this season has several very nice guards and wings, but Lydia Stullken could be the biggest draw for college coaches because of her height, length, athleticism, and ability to change a game defensively. Paige Gregory was really good in their first tournament of the year, and she always plays with a great motor. Rylie Stephens is a nice new addition to this squad, and she brings fluid athleticism and skill at all levels. I have always been a fan of Lauren Morris, because she’s quick/fast, defends well, and understands how to play the point guard position. And Madison Stamm transferred into Anderson Prep this year from Mount Vernon (Fortville) and put up some good numbers. This team will likely draw a varying degree of college interest, from a handful of Division-I schools to just about every Midwestern small college there is.
Indy Magic-Scott
Coach Kelvin Scott
No. | Name | Ht. | Pos. | Class | High School |
1 | Hannah Farrell | 5-9 | F | 2020 | Greenfield-Central |
2 | Alaina Frankel | 5-7 | W | 2020 | Center Grove |
10 | Lindsey Syrek | 6-2 | F | 2020 | University |
12 | Viktoria Campbell | 5-9 | F | 2020 | Rushville |
22 | Jordan Reid | 5-10 | F | 2020 | New Palestine |
24 | Ashtin DeCraene | 5-6 | G | 2020 | Westfield |
25 | Allison Bosse | 5-6 | G | 2020 | Brownsburg |
33 | Alana Vinson | 5-10 | W | 2020 | Roncalli |
41 | Maddi Sears | 5-7 | G | 2020 | University |
Overview: The Scott team had to replace a few key pieces from the 2019 class, but they look to again be a formidable group. Lindsey Syrek has drawn the most college interest so far, and she already holds Division-I offers. She is so skilled in the mid-post and very long and mobile. Allison Bosse is one of the more underappreciated guards in the state, and I think her basketball IQ, motor, and ability to hit shots at all levels stand out. Jordan Reid and Alana Vinson are a pair of really nice wing prospects who are sure to draw a wide variety of attention this Spring & Summer. Reid is a wiry strong, athletic, high-motor forward who can play in the mid-post or around the perimeter. Vinson is a smooth and fluid point forward type who can score it a little bit as well. Hannah Farrell had an outstanding year for Greenfield-Central, and she’ll look to add toughness and versatility to the lineup. Maddi Sears and Alaina Frankel are skilled and high-motor guards who do a little of everything, and Ashtin DeCraene also has experience playing either guard spot and brings good toughness. Tori Campbell is battling back from an injury, but she’ll give them a shooting presence. She just committed to Indiana University-East. Look for several Division-I, Division-II, and high level Division-III and NAIA schools to be chasing this group around all season.
