Grassroots Preview: Lady Legit 17U
Legit Basketball and the Lady Legit girls’ program have been around for some time now in Northeast Indiana, more specifically the Fort Wayne area, and they often field one or two teams each season. This year, their 17U team is comprised of several really nice ballplayers who might not be well-known outside of the Fort Wayne area. This team, however, will compete hard and hand some good teams losses here and there. They are organized by Mr. Juan Gorman.

Overview: I think my favorite player from this group has to be Tyra Ford. Her combination of athleticism and energy is second to none in the 2021 class, and she’s a tremendous rebounder, especially offensively. Payton Gorman and Nehkai Boone are two members of a very solid backcourt at Fort Wayne Snider, and Gorman was the second leading scorer this year for the Panthers. Bree Dossen had a really nice season for Heritage this year, and she’s capable of scoring it at all levels. Jashanek Brooks is a frontline player who has a solid combination of size and length. She’s always a double-double waiting to happen. I could see some Division-I schools checking out a couple of these girls, especially Ford, but it would also be wise for all of the Midwestern small colleges to follow this team, as there are some really nice prospects here.
