Grassroots Preview: Sky Digg 17U
The Sky Digg teams are a representation of WNBA star Skylar Diggins-Smith. The program has existed for a few years now, and they seem to field a couple of teams in each group every season. This season is no different, as they have two nice 17U squads ready to go to work. The program is headed up by Mr. Maurice Scott and Mr. Shawn Sullivan.

Overview: Coach Grennes has done a really nice job over the years of putting together competitive rosters comprised of girls who can play but otherwise might not get a great deal of interest outside of the travel ball season. McKenzie Hudgen is an exception, as she recently picked up a Division-I offer. She is a tough-nosed, hard-working, blue collar type of player. She is skilled and can play either guard position, and she leaves it all out on the floor. Diamond Taylor is a nice, athletic talent. She has good strength at her size, she can play guard or forward, and she was originally a Jeffersonville kid who transferred to the Louisville school last Spring. Jackie Biscardi is another nice guard for this team. She can slide over and play point guard, but she’s a wiry strong shooter who you must pay attention to. I would anticipate this team getting a little Division-I attention, but they also have several really nice small college prospects on board.

Overview: Over the years the Sullivan team has seen its share of talented rosters, and this season is no different. This time around, though, they have partnered up with Indiana Flight, and they will be the 17U representative in the Under Armour Association. The headliner on the team is Keegan Sullivan. She’s a strong, physical wing who has the handle and passing ability of a point guard. She had an outstanding weekend two weeks ago when we saw her, and she has drawn interest and offers from quite a few high-major Division-I schools and most mid-major Division-I schools. Ella Collier is a new addition to the program, and she has a reputation as an elite perimeter shooter. She looks stronger this year, and she’s drawing her share of Division-I interest as well. Claire Knies is yet another nice wing with skill and versatility, and she has actually already committed to Bellarmine University. Tia Tolbert continues this trend of solid wing play, as she can score it in bunches, and she has helped Rivet to consecutive Class 1A State Championship games. Kelsie James is as tough as they come, strong for her size, quick/fast, and she has good skill and understanding. She is a dynamic playmaker. Payton Cronen is a new addition as well, and she is known for her perimeter shooting/scoring ability. Lucy Robertson has always been an intriguing post prospect, as she has tremendous length and moves fairly well for a true post. She is also a nice defensive presence. Christina Himelick is an additional frontcourt prospect, and she compliments Robertson’s length by being the strong, powerful post who is willing to play very physical. And Kashlin Biffle is another strong and powerful interior player. She also possesses a nice skillset too, and she can play on the block or in the mid-post effectively. This team will have a lot of onlookers this season, from high-major Division-I down through the small college ranks. They will be fun to watch.
