Players to watch this summer: this team can come at you from everywhere with a variety of different weapons. A roster full of to players from all around the Dayton area and beyond. Kendall Clodfelter is a player who came into her own last season with Tippecanoe High School, a very versatile guard who can not only score from the perimeter, but also can get to the rim and create defensive problems inside. A good basketball IQ and will play as hard as anyone in Ohio to improve her game. Not only can score, but also has the knack of finding her open teammate with a good pass. Megan Jurosic is a strong, physical forward/post who can mix it up with anybody, can step out and hit the three, and rebounds well. Megan has good post footwork and with her inside-out versatility, she is a prime candidate to play somewhere at the next level. Lissa Siler is a player who is a zone-buster. She can hit the three from anywhere, and gets herself open to utilize her perimeter skills. One of her strenghts is her incredible speed on release of the ball on her shot. Working to improve her handles which are not bad, but adding that improvement will definately help her when it comes to playing at the next level. Another quick athletic guard who has seen her game improve is Jordyn Varise who has improved her speed and she has a good basketball IQ. She commands the floor and distributes the ball better and her change of speed has improved.
Sleepers to Watch: like any team, there will be players who open the eyes and improve their stock by the end of the summer and this team is no different. Abbigail Peterson joins the Hoopstars and has the tools to be a better player. She needs to work on seeing the floor a little better, and how to be a more efficient point guard. She is always working and her game will blossom this summer as she develops those aspects of her game to go along with her athleticism and offensive skills. Nicole Knippen is another player who will step into the spotlight at times this summer. She can shoot the ball as good as anyone, long arms and a super high IQ. Once she settles in and gets some games under her belt with this team, her stock will rise. Bailey Shepherd is a long, quick guard who already has a lot of tools to use this summer. She isn’t afraid to shoot from the arc, and once she strengthens her drive to the rim, watch out for this one.
