Grassroots Preview: First Lady’s 17U
The First Lady’s program is relatively new to the grassroots basketball scene over the last couple of seasons, and program Director, Mr. Jeremy Anderson, has assembled both a 17U team and a 15U team for this grassroots season. The teams are made up of 100% Marion County players (Indianapolis), and they have several athletic guards and wings.

Overview: There are several really nice, lesser-known prospects on this year’s 17U team. TreNaé Mann had an outstanding year for Indianapolis George Washington. She’s a strong, physical, and athletic guard who can score the ball at a high level. She’s also a more than capable defensive player. Aniya Washington is another quick and athletic scoring guard who put up good numbers for Tindley this season. Clara Lee is a third guard who I had the opportunity to see during the school season, and she’s a fundamentally sound combo guard who can handle, pass, and knock down open shots. Atiana Smith is an intriguing forward with solid length and athleticism. She has a lot of upside because of her physical potential. Lauronai Daly is still a bit thin, but she’s extremely long, she runs the floor well North/South, and she is a presence at the defensive end of the floor. There’s a chance that one of the younger players on this roster creates some buzz amongst Division-I coaches, but small colleges should also take a look at this team, because there are several kids with upside here.
