Grassroots Preview: Indiana Elite S.W.I.S.H. 17U
The Evansville Basketball Academy and Director Mr. Phil Kessler assembled the Indiana S.W.I.S.H. basketball program years ago to help kids from the “Pocket City” and Southwestern Indiana get exposure in front of college coaches that they might not normally get during their high school seasons. Year after year they roll out solid teams in each age group, and past teams have included players like Jackie Young, Tyra Buss, and Maura Muensterman, just to name a few. Please make sure you check them out, and don’t overlook the Evansville area, because there are always plenty of “sleepers” down there due to its isolated location.

Overview: This 17U S.W.I.S.H. group should be very competitive and fun to watch. Meredith Raley is a strong, fairly athletic, and skilled inside-out forward who can score on the block, in the mid-post, or knock down the occasional perimeter jumper. Kenna Hisle is a skilled and versatile wing who can play like a point forward, she can slash to the basket, and she is also a capable perimeter shooter. Brooke Nottingham is a quick/fast and feisty little point guard who plays with a good motor. She can penetrate and pitch to teammates, knock down an open jumper, and she’s a willing defender. Lettie Nice had a good season for Salem, and the traditional post player has a solid frame, length, and keeps the ball high and finishes well around the rim. Kylie Shelton is the lone underclassman with this group, and she had a really nice year for Bloomfield. She’s a versatile wing who can score at all levels. I think this group, especially Raley and Hisle, will see a few Division-I schools watching them, as well as this team should have most Midwestern small colleges on them regularly.
