Dustee Murrell 5’10 F 602 Lady Nation/Copper Canyon 2020
If I have to give out a best three point shooter award, I think I give it to Dustee Murrell. I don’t think I saw her miss a single three. Three point shooting is by far the best aspect of her game. She didn’t look very confident with the ball in her hand and played decent defense but when she got the ball at the three it was a different story. She has a smooth looking shot and great technical shooting mechanics.
Jess Finney 5’10 F Arizona Select/Chaparral 2021
Finney is dangerous from deep and it was well known. Opponents were sprinting as hard as they could around those screens, trying to chase Finney off her spot. I saw a couple teams even try to send two girls chase off a screen and it didn’t really matter, Finney still hit it. If she comes off a screen and is able to catch in her rhythm it’s game over. You can’t allow her to catch the ball running off a screen.
Sophie Gerber 5’10 F 602 Lady Nation/Desert Mountain 2020
Gerber showed that she can shoot the ball with high efficiency as well. She did struggle in her last game from deep but she shot the ball with so much confidence and has terrific shooting mechanics. I did see her hit multiple three’s in games prior but she did struggle in the last game. She can be pretty deadly if she is used correctly as a pick and pop stretch 4.
Bella Hamel 5’10 F Tucson Rattlers Black/Ironwood Ridge 2020
Hamel shot it well from three but the reason she is on this list is due to her mid-range game. She pulled that mid-range jumper early and often. She has a very quick shot and shot a very high percentage from mid-range. She hit a couple three’s in the games I saw her play but she didn’t take those shot as often as her mid-range.
Mia Davis 5’10 G BSP/Legacy Traditional School 2023
Unlike Bella Hamel, Mia Davis pulled up from deep a lot! She has to have the most confidence that I have ever seen out of an 8th grader. She was shooting from the college and NBA line with ease. She even hit a step back from the college line. It was super impressive! She is going to be a problem next season once she gets into high school!
