Jasmine Singleton 5’6 G 602 Lady Nation/Millennium 2020
Jasmine Singleton had a very good day! She played extremely tough defense and showed why she should be considered a top guard in the 2020 class. She has pretty solid handles and showed how hard she can attack the basket. She didn’t shoot the ball too much, but when she did…she hit it. Her main role is defense and play making.
Kamryn Doty 5’6 G AZ Supreme/Sabino 2021
Doty has terrific handles. She plays the game like she’s a seasoned vet. She has a very good feel to the game and a nice tempo. She knows when to turn it up and push and when to slow it down. She also shot the heck out of the ball. If she got an open look from deep, it was going in.
Kam’Ren Rhodes 5’6 G AZ Supreme/Sabino 2022
Rhodes plays very fast! It seems like she has only one gear! Sometimes she will push the ball too much instead of pulling it out and setting something up but she is super young and has a lot of time to develop that skill. She has great potential and will be one of the top guards in AZ for a while.
Tatyanna Clayburne 5’8 G Arizona Select/Perry 2021
Clayburne won MVP of the Main Event and it was more than well deserved. She plays with such a poise and presence on the court. It feels like everyone is watching her waiting to see what she’s going to do and she can do it all. She was a great facilitator for her team and scored the ball when she needed to. She also showed off her clutch gene when she knocked down two free-throws with 5 seconds left, winning her team the Championship.
Iva Drobjnak 5’7 G Arizona Select/Bella Vista Prep 2020
I was truly blown away by Iva. She was extremely impressive due to her defense and how crafty she is. She uses a ton of moves to get her defender off balance or in the air and then scores on them with ease. She also locking down any opponent who came her way. Overall, I was very impressed by her and will definitely need to check her games out very often.
Anna Ostlie 5’8 G AZ Elite/Chaparral 2020
Ostlie might have been the best pure point guard of the event. She was making plays left and right! She has a smooth handle and makes some next level passes. She also wasn’t afraid to get on the boards and get some easy put backs for her team.
Mia Davis 5’10 G BSP/Legacy Traditional School 2023
Mia Davis blows my mind every time I see her play. Due to her size and skill, it is easy to forget that she is in 8th grade! She’s out there playing with juniors and senior and having great success! She can shoot the ball from deep with great efficiency and can break her defender down and score at the basket. Mia Davis just flat out knows how to score the ball.
Grace Oken 5’6 G AZ Swish/Perry 2021 & Cadence Davis 5’7 G AZ Swish/Williams Field 2021
Both of these girls played very well and played very similar. Both took care of the ball and didn’t force too much. Personally, that’s what I want from my point guard. They both slowed things down and ran their offense, setting up their teammates. However, they both knew how to call their own number as well. Both of these girls shot the ball super well and demonstrated their tight handles.
