I first encountered Davis when she came to a skills academy I was working at. One of the coaches told me that I need to pay close attention to her and write an article about her…he wasn’t wrong.
During the workout, Davis began absolutely outworking other middle school boys players. We then moved her up to the next age group to compete with freshman and JV boys. Davis still continued to impress and play extremely well, showing off all of her skills.
Davis has an incredible combination of skills that make her a handful for defenders. She has some of the tightest handles you’ll ever see in a middle school player. She can shoot the ball efficiently and shoot it from deep! I’ve seen her pull up from near half court with confidence. Davis also has some great physical attributes, standing at 5’11 and being very quick, especially with the ball.
While she played great during the workout, that isn’t always the true showing of a player. I like to see a prospect play or workout a couple times before “buying into their hype”. All of the “hype” around Mia Davis is 100% real. I decided to head over to her game today and she put on an absolute show.
Mai Davis had a triple double on points, rebounds, and steals. Davis contributed 30 of her team’s total 48 points. She also collected 10 rebounds and stole the ball 10 times. Davis was simply unguardable. She scored mainly from three but was able to take the ball inside with ease.
Mia Davis is going to be a problem next year in high school and should get some college attention. She has already received some pretty impressive attention from college scouts. According to Head Coach, Bryan Hancock, Davis has received a lot of college interest from about 15 different D1 schools and Indiana University has offered her a full ride scholarship.
