The Division 2 season saw athletic superstars and a program chasing history. There were great games all season and throughout the playoffs.
In the semifinals, Freeland edged Hamilton 71-66, while DEPSA defeated Haslett 70-43. In the title game DEPSA came out on top again. They beat Freeland 77-58. DEPSA reached their goal of rewriting history by winning their 3rd consecutive title. They did this despite moving up a Division this season.
There were star players to be seen statewide in Division 2 basketball. These athletes gave their heart and soul to the sport they love. Here is the Prep Girls Hoops Michigan 2018-2019 Division 2 Player Of The Year and Honorable Mentions:

The Mississippi State signee will go down in history as one of, if not THE, best high school players that Michigan has ever seen. She averaged 22ppg and 8rpg this season. Jackson recently played in the McDonald’s All-American Game and was a part of 3 straight state championships for DEPSA. She is an elite prospect and, in all likelihood, the best 1-on-1 player in the country. Quite simply, there was no high school player that could have stopped her in the open floor this season.

<strong>Daisey Ansel </strong>(2019, G, Comstock)
The GVSU commit was a force offensively this season.

The well rounded 2-way player led Freeland to the state championship game.

The athletic wing will be a frontrunner for the 2020 Miss Basketball distinction.

She led Chelsea to its best season in school history.

The do it all point guard creates, scores, and passes......all at an elite level.
<strong>Kenzie Lewis </strong>(2020, G, Williamston)
She’s a skilled scorer who can facilitate for her teammates as well.

Miller averaged a double-double in points and rebounds.

She was one of the best up tempo lead guards in the midwest.

Shafer is a sharpshooter that can flat out take over games.
<strong>Emily Swiercz </strong>(2019, G, Carlton Airport).
She’s a big time scorer who can light it up from behind the arc.
<strong>Maddie Voelker </strong>(2020, G, Goodrich)
Voelker is an electric shooter that continued to pile up career scoring numbers.
