All of these players exemplified what is meant by improving on their game. I’ve witnessed all of these players play multiple times throughout the year, and most in different settings. An aspect of their game changed, improved, or was added each time I saw these players play. My most recent time watching these ladies was the weekend of April 12that the Hoop It Up Showcase in Tulsa, Oklahoma at the Titan Sports Performance Center.
#3 Haley Meely, Junior, 5’3, Point Guard, Jenks HS, OKPWP Elite 17U
My first time watching Meely was in the summer of 2018, again during the scrimmage season in the fall and up close during the season in the winter, all with her high school team Jenks. Her IQ to the game has improved largely, making the correct passes and shooting at the right time. Her ball handling has improved, she had low turnovers and looked comfortable with the ball in her hands.
#15 Ashlyn Sage, Sophomore, 6’1, Guard/Forward, Weatherford HS, OK Swarm 17U BlueStar Richie
Very special player on a team for any coach. Ashlyn can act as a guard or a forward from both ends of the floor. Anytime she is on the court, she effects the game in some way: offensive & defensive rebounding, hitting the 3-point shot, shots off the dribble, etc. She fits well with any group she is with because of her skill level and ability at multiple levels on the court.
#21 Mackenzie Crusoe, Junior, 5’7, Guard, Choctaw HS, OK Swarm 17U BlueStar Dave
Consistent with her game of IQ. She operates well out of triple threat. Patient to make a move to the basket, and tight with the ball as she attacks. She uses her body well and is physical as she attacks the rim. Crusoe is always in control of her ball and body as well.
#33 Nykale Cramer, Sophomore, 5’11, Guard, Millwood HS, OKPWP Elite 16U
My fourth time watching Cramer, each time she uses one of her many skills to have success in the game. Usually, I witness her strong defensive presences, but last time I saw her aggressiveness from the offensive end. Nice fluid outside shot that has a soft touch on the ball. Decent shot speed in a set shot but even better off the dribble. Cramer looked really comfortable hitting the one dribble pull up shot on the baseline.
#2 Alicia Baker, Junior, 5’6, Point Guard, Purcell HS, OK Swarm 17U Elite
High energy player that handles the ball well. She moves very fast up the court and finishes very strong through her defenders. I like her IQ in using the right amount of force from her body when going up for a layup, especially in transition. Her head is always up which adds to her ability to attack the basket so well.
#3 Jade Upshaw, Sophomore, 5’7, Guard, Kellyville HS, Oklahoma Jets
From the guard position, she can do everything. Very comfortable with the ball for the shot or to put the ball on the floor. She moves really swift through defensive pressure and is smooth with her moves. Upshaw’s skill level allows her to read her defensive well to be prepared to create any type of shot she wants.
#31 Lexi Foreman, Sophonore, 5’10, Guard, Anadarko HS, OK Swish 2021/2022
Always involved in every single play. Foreman works on every play in the game. She’ll sprint down the court to prevent a transition lay up, moves her entire body to step in front of the defender and always make the correct defensive play. On the offensive end, she is smooth with the ball and uses her body to protect the ball as she dribbles and executes dribble moves.
