PSA Mckinney and PSA Murhpy courts were loaded with Division 1 prospects from all around the country and more specifically, the Pacific Northwest. The Northwest Blazers had three teams play in the Platinum and Gold 17u Gauntlet. The Northwest Greyhounds also had one team participate in the Silver Gauntlet Division in the “Heart of Texas” event put on by Premier Basketball Report.
Northwest Blazers Orange: 5-0 record in the Platinum Gauntlet. The Blazers Orange impressed throughout the weekend with their unselfish play and tight defensive pressure. They allowed just 41 points per game, good for the fourth best in the entire Platinum division. 2020 6’0 SF Maisie Burnham had some strong moments driving to the basket strong and rebounding against bigger posts.
Northwest Blazers Sun: 4-0 record in the Gold Gauntlet. Coach Glen Johnson ran a tight ship with this group, displaying disciplined basketball on both sides of the ball. The Sun were one of the top 4 defensive teams out of 70 teams in the Gold division. 2021 6’0 PF Lexi Hernandez competed really hard on both ends and finished with strength inside.
Northwest Blazers Heat: 1-3 record in the Gold Gauntlet. The Heat squad got off to a slower start with a brand new group, but have a team loaded with college prospects. Each loss was by single digits. 2022 5’7 G Mya Hansen was solid scoring the ball from the guard position. 2020 5’11 F CarolAnn Edwards really competed on the defensive end and finished strong with her left hand.
Norhtwest Greyhounds: 0-3 record in the Silver Gauntlet. The Silver Gauntlet was put on by Premier Basketball in conjunction with the Heart of Texas tournament. They suffered losses to the New Mexico Clippers, Level Up Academy and Riverside Church 2021.
