Continue ReadingCollege coaches are always in the search of hard working student-athletes and Inglemoor High School’s standout sophomore, Isabella Reed, is exactly that. The 5’10 shooting guard is a well-traveled ball player that has slowly but surely been progressing over the last few years. Isabella is one of those players that truly puts time in the gym and the pay off has been apparent. She was a key piece in Inglemoor’s 21-8 run at the state tourney this winter. She had some very good moments throughout the season and expects to continue to contribute more as each year goes by. Isabella is suiting up with the rebirth YEA program this spring and summer on the 16u team. She currently leads the team in steals and is third in scoring playing on the Under Armour Rise circuit. Her continued growth on the floor goes back to her work ethic. Isabella told Prep Girls Hoops, ” Since the end of my high school season, I have been working on my ball handling, shooting and my agility on and off the court. I’m training at Ford Sports Performance to work on jumping.” The daily skills and athletic training she has been doing for years is all to work towards her personal goal of playing at the Division 1 level. So far, the sophomore off-guard has received interest from a handful of schools including, Santa Clara, Weber State, Cal Poly, Northwest Nazarene University, Cal state Monterey Bay, Lewis and Clark, Pacific University, University of Puget Sound, Whitman College, and Willamette. It is still pretty early in the process, but things seem to be pretty promising at this stage. No matter what level Isabella Reed ends up playing at, she will have a strong foundation of skills to help some college program.
Interview:
1) How would you describe your game and what position do you feel most comfortable at?
I would describe my game as one that’s fast paced on the offensive side and controlled on the defensive side. I take pride in playing defense and guarding the best player on the court. Defense is something I love to do and I go hard every game. I feel most comfortable playing as a guard.
2) Will you be attending any elite camps this summer?
Central Washington University, Duke University, and possibly Weber State and Santa Clara University.
3) What’s most important for you as far as college goes?
For me personally, I just want to play D1 basketball at a school with good academics. It’s important that I have a strong bond with my coach who I can be honest and vocal with and to have good connections with my teammates on and off the court. Location isn’t a big deciding factor for me.
4) What are your goals for this spring and summer?
My goals for this spring and summer are to improve my shooting consistency and my ball handling skills so my game can become one that’s hard to guard. I am working to become more of an offensive threat so my high school coach can always rely on me next year and the following year. This summer is going to be all about getting the exposure I need to reach my goal of playing D1 basketball.
