Alivia Pautz can go!
The rising junior for Notre Dame Prep probably played the most aggressive and forceful style of ball of anyone on the floor. She would consistently get to her spots on offense and could rise enough and create enough space to get her quality jumper off. That bailed the Saints out of a few possessions where the offense suddenly came to a halt.
So can Bridget Mullings
Another rising junior, for Greenway, is a double-double machine. She used her size well on both ends of the floor in this game, getting rebounds and manning the paint on defense. Her mere presence made NDP think twice about iaking it into the paint on offense much at all. Then, on offense she used her length and height to draw shooting fouls.
I was impressed with the Greenway defense
The on and off-ball guarding, led a lot by Madison Kekic, was quality. The Demons played a style of full-court press, and absolutely mucked up every single inbounds pass in this game. That led to steals and easy points. If they can continue that intensity throughout June and into the 2019-20 season, they will be in good shape.
NDP has some good ball movement
The guards on this team really love to pass the ball, and it seems to move around a lot when the Saints are in the half-court offense. Returners like Paula Doherty or Hope Hutchison who seem to enjoy facilitating did well when they could run set plays. It was turnovers on inbounds passes and getting the ball out of the backcourt that ultimately cost Notre Dame in this game.
