As summer ball is now in full swing, Prep Girls Hoops Kansas takes a look at some of the state’s top players on the rise in a variety of positions.
Below are some of the state’s players to keep your eyes on in the 2020 class
Mary Reiber, 5’5, G, 2020, Olathe Northwest
Reiber it’s good with the ball in her hands and makes find decisions in transition. She can weave her way out of problem areas and can get to the basket well and score against taller opponents. she’s also a strong defensive presence who can stay with the ball and in front of her opponent at all times.
Riley Ranzau, 5’4, G, 2020, Valley Center
A very strong defensive player who stays close to her opponent and directs her well. She has quick hands and is good forcing turnovers and coming away with the ball. she can handle it well and is good at finishing in transition after a steal. Also a good shooter and a player who can create for others.
Mackenzie Shupe, 5’8, G, 2020, DeSoto
An underrated guard with good size and feel for the ball. She is good at moving off the ball and can stay active on the weak side. She is a great shooter from distance and has a solid jump shot a few feet inside. She doesn’t need a lot of space to get her shot off and can connect even if the defender is in her face.
Madelyn Hutley, 5’5, G, 2020, Wabaunsee
A nice guard who can handle the ball and create for others. She can zip around well and has good ideas and can operate as a score if she needs to. She can get to the whole and finish and is good at getting to the free-throw line and connecting.
Aloera Allie Osterman, 5’9, G, 2020, Manhattan
A player with good size who can operate on the perimeter and also inside some. She rebounds well and looks to contribute on the defensive end as well as the offensive. She runs the floor and makes good decisions with the ball. She passes out well and runs hard.
