Kiya Dorroh 6’1 2021 G/F (Sabino)
Dorroh is a guard but she plays forward for her high school team. She is able to do a lot of things that most HS forwards can’t due to her guard skill set and athleticism. She shot the ball extremely well, rebounded like an animal, and ran the floor well. Defensively, she looked really tough and got a couple of highlight worthy blocks. Dorroh unfortunately missed the Championship game against Perry, would have loved to see that matchup!
Amanda Barcello 6’0 2021 F (Seton Catholic)
I really like Barcello’s versatility. She can do a little bit of everything and does whatever her team needs her to do in order to be successful. She is a really tough defender due to her quickness and strength. Very good rebounder and can shoot the ball from time to time.
Marisa Davis-Jones 6’1 2021 F (Valley Vista)
MDJ has so much potential. She looks a bit out of control at times but I think she’s still coming into her body and gaining coordination. She is very fast and athletic and has super long arms. She ran the floor well, which resulted in a ton of fast break points for her. She also can be very tough to stop from getting to the rim due her strength. She easily finishes with contact and defenders near.
Elysia Fleetwood 5’10 2020 F (Xavier)
Fleetwood struggled offensively but made the list due to her defense. She flies all over the court and is a tough and gritty defender, that will always get you kudos points in my book. She is actually a lot more athletic and mobile than given credit for and is very strong, he combination makes a pretty good on ball defender.
Madi Magee 6’0 2021 F (Valley Vista)
Magee looks a lot better than the last time I saw her. She is a player that I think has a ton of potential as well due to her size and mobility. She is so strong and has a great build. She even showed that she can shoot the mid range effectively. She looked a lot more poised and calm this event and was a lot more effective on both ends.
Gabrielle Schwartz 6’0 2021 F (Perry)
Schwartz did what Schwartz does…played hard. I really enjoy watching her play because she truly gives her all every possession. She is a tough and gritty backbone for her team and fears no one. She is constantly fighting for rebounds and fighting for space. She is actually a very good low post defender, even when matched up against bigger forwards.
