Outside observers might look at the Point Guards, realize the first one comes at #7 overall in this class, and think it isn’t a particularly strong position group. However, when you consider the quality and recruitment of prospects #1 through #6 and the overall depth of this class, there are some really nice floor generals to consider in 2022. Below we take a look at the Top-10 Point Guard prospects in Indiana’s Class of 2022.

There is a new #1 at the position, and she’s actually new to the state. Kynidi Striverson and her sister Alana (2021) recently enrolled at Silver Creek High School in Southern Indiana after attending Male High School in Louisville, Kentucky. Kynidi is a wiry strong point guard prospect who is talented enough that she played on a 17U EYBL team throughout the Spring. She has some length, good explosiveness in all directions, she plays with a nice motor, and she has solid overall instincts for the position. I also really like how she defends with a sense of urgency.
Also on the move is dynamic point guard Teresa Maggio of McCutcheon High School. McCutcheon is in her back yard, though she opted to attend Lafayette’s Thomas Jefferson High School her Freshman season before making the move back. The quick/fast and feisty point guard has put on a show at times throughout the Spring, as she has shot the ball extremely well, not to mention defended at a high level also.
Another name really starting to gain momentum is Ali Saunders of North Harrison High School. She’s a strong-for-her-age lead guard who gained a lot of experience on Varsity this past season. She is skilled with the ball in her hands, she’s a willing distributor, but she can also shoot/score when her team needs it. As she continues to mature in her role, look for her to begin drawing her share of college attention.
One final guard I wanted to highlight at this time is Ryan Viele of Hamilton Southeastern High School. She is extremely long, somewhat thin, but she looks noticeably more physical this grassroots season as opposed to last. I think she has always been a tough kid, but now she is learning how to absorb contact better. She is a really nice, fluid athlete, who could make a nice contribution at HSE this Winter considering all of their graduation losses.
