As summer ball is now in full swing, Prep Girls Hoops Kansas takes a look at some of the state’s top players on the rise in a variety of positions.
Below are some of the state’s players to keep your eyes on in the 2020 class
Ashlyn Henrie, 5’6, G, 2020, Shawnee Mission West
A strong and aggressive guard who is physical on defense and has quick hands and is good at jumping passing lanes and causing opponents to second-guess their passes. She can operate as the scoring guard if she needs to and is good at creating space and getting around her opponents. She is also a smart passer and has good speed.
Kasey Hamilton, 5’8, G, 2020, Washburn Rural
Important defender who knows how to forced turnovers without getting into foul trouble. She has an eye for schemes and is quick to jump on the ball and get opponents rattled. She can handle the ball for self and can operate as a point guard or a scoring option. She can get to the basket and finish with either hand and can absorb contact in the paint.
Madison Ontjes, 5’6, G, 2020, Nickerson
Ontjes has good handles and can shake off defenders. She has good speed as well and is good at forcing the team’s point guard to make poor decisions. She uses her speed on the offensive side as well. Able to find weak spots and defensive schemes and get inside and score for herself or pass the ball to an open teammate.
Alleigh Kramer, 5’7, G, 2020, Nemaha Central
An aggressive defender who likes to play clothes and jump passing Lanes. Kramer moves well off the ball and has quick feet and looks to rattle her opponents from the start. She lets her defense do the talking and you can also lead to offensive looks through fast breaks. She is good at getting to the basket and finishing and getting to the free-throw line.
Taylor Bohannon, 5’7, G, 2020, Belle Plain
A player who can contribute anywhere she’s needed. She plays taller than her listed height and can defend several positions on the floor. She can handle the ball for herself and is good at making extra passes and getting the ball where it needs to. She can also score when she has an open look and she can find them on her own or after the catch.
