Brea Cunningham and Judea Watkins
These two wreaked havoc across the field. Their combined physical tools allow them to run the gambit and compete at a high level.
Watkins is already special, and she knows it. She’s a force that can play any position you need her to. The 6 foot-plus wing separates herself from other thanks to her handle that allows her to attack the basket and create her shot off the dribble.
At this level, Cunningham is a cheat code around the basket. She grabs double-digit rebounds, operates around the paint, and controls the area 10 feet around the hoop. She’ll be one of the best post players in the class as she continues to work on her shooting. She’s fundamentally strong and a fence around the rim. In her best game of the tournament, she posted 20 point triple-double with 10 blocks.
Rylee Grays and DAsia Thomas
This dynamic duo clogged up the paint in a good way. Both standing 6’2 the rim and space 8 feet around it was all theirs.
Grays future is bright. Between her size and motor, she’s a handful for most opponents on offense and defense. She’s alert, always lurking around the basket with active hands on both sides of the court. She’s still learning the game and how to move her body. Once her coordination catches to her energy on the court she’ll go from a good prospect to one of the best Texas.
DAsia knows her game and plays it effortlessly. She’s constantly in a position to score off drop steps. She has strong hands and understands how to use her size keeping the by high. She has great footwork and uses it on both ends of the floor.
Jada Williams and S’mya Nichols
These two formed the most imposing backcourt at the Jr. NBA Championship. Blessed with high basketball IQs they facilitated the offense and filled the cup up in every way possible.
Williams is an elite guard in the 2023 class using her speed to get wherever she wants on the court. To go along with her nearly unguardable speed she’s lights out with the ball in her hands. When not scoring she’s a floor general setting up her teammates like chess pieces.
Nichols is an all-around stat sheet stuffer. At 5’10 she has the size to play 1-3 and the skills to never be out of position. She looks for the right play. Constantly on the look for open teammates then her next opportunity. Even when her shot isn’t falling she’s working towards winning giving effort on the defensive end and the boards.
