Many people don’t get it and never will, we are in a #PostLiterateSociety but I try to be as efficient as possible and I hate do-overs unless I make the mistake but as far as an eye for talent, I make no mistakes and all you have to do is go through the archives but still, many won’t get it. Here are a few more players I’ll be adding to the 2023 Watch List because I’m loving their upside
Alexus Cortez and [player_tooltip player_id="134059" first="Rayna" last="Williams"] (defending)Alexis Cortez Alexis Cortez 5'10" | SF Allen | 2023 State TX -5’8 F (Lady Drive Nation Duncan 2023) good size and agility combined with athleticism and strength, she attacks the basket ferociously from the wing and can take the lick and finish after contact. She plays the passing lane quite well at this stage and showed she could score multiple ways. She rebounds, runs the floor and can play defense baseline to baseline.
Pace Rickard Pace Rickard 5'9" | PG Westlake | 2023 State TX – 5’7 PG (SA Finest KI WILL) when you can create for yourself, that’s always a good thing however when you can create for others, well that’s a very good thing and understanding the simple things early will take you a long way at this stage but she’s ahead of the game with her ability to see the floor, hit the right players at the right time or just do it herself
Rayna Williams Rayna Williams 5'10" | SF Frisco Lebanon Trail | 2024 State TX -5’9 P (Lady Drive Nation Duncan 2023) I’ve been watching her around the gym shooting and handling the ball when her older sister, Jade, who plays for Duke, was tearing the high school scene up. Rayna keeps showing progression each year, she’s athletic, she defends in the paint or on the perimeter and can score in the paint or facing the basket
[player_tooltip player_id="134060" first="Baylee" last="Mitchell"] defending AlexusCortezBaylee Mitchell Baylee Mitchell 5'6" | CG North Crowley | 2023 State TX -5’8 G ( Texas Savage) athleticism through the roof, one of those “never takes a play off players” that just appears to be everywhere. Very efficient defensively, she loves to apply pressure and does a good job playing the passing lane and she also attacks the basket hard and finishes acrobatically. Nice midrange but her ability to create her shot at this stage gives her many options
Angel Tumbarello Angel Tumbarello 5'4" | SG SA Johnson | 2023 State TX -5’4 G (SA Finest KI WILL) when I saw the coaches and player’s expressions when she gets ready to launch one from another stratosphere, I knew I had to move closer in but she doesn’t because her range is unlimited. She handles the ball well and can create her shot while being defended tightly but two things, she can catch and shoot and she can knock it down accurately
