4 Thoughts:
Cardington should once again be the class of the KMAC. Jamie Edwards has done a masterful job with the Pirates, averaging 21 victories a season over their last 4 years (84-16) dating back to their days in the Mid-Ohio Athletic Conference. It will be no easy task for Cardington to replace graduated seniors Kynlee Edwards, Taylor Reppart and Paige Clinger, but it certainly is going to be much easier with athletic post player Casey Bertke returning. Bertke, an All-Ohioan last year, is a Cedarville University commit.
Sparta Highland is much improved. With a now-experienced group for head coach Whitney Levering-Smith, expect Highland to run a fast-paced motion offense that uses the entire floor, with a number of backdoors for easy buckets and screening options for shooters. Madison Cecil will run the show for Highland – she plays her best in big games.
Danville, a program with as much tradition as anyone in the area, has fallen on tougher times than normal the past few years. With that being said, Matt Proper – a former small-school state coach of the year, returns this winter with an outstanding group of underclassmen. It is never easy to play on the road at Danville and with CeCe Newbold entering her senior year, it wouldn’t be surprising if the Blue Devils are playing some big games as the season winds down.
Madison Fitzpatrick is a dynamic scorer for Mount Gilead. The combo-guard has the ability to change games scoring the basketball. She can also dish out a handful of assists and get a number of steals each night. Teams need to keep Madison under control or Mount Gilead is an upset waiting to happen.
