2023 Watch List preseason updates
First of all, let me once again emphasize that this is a Watch List meaning I’ve had a chance to catch talented players that stood out against talented players, I knew who those players were because I was provided a roster and I saw some level of the next level in those players future. PassThaBall’s The South and I-45 Shootout was like a “Who’s Who” of players from Texas that solidified their status or jumped on board. The countless PBR and Prime Time events I covered during the season, closing with the Summer Elite Championship as well as Shooting 4 Da Cure, Houston Summer Slam and both Austin Elite’s events, All Eyez On Me Individual Showcase and Tyrone Johnson Showcase, again providing I had a roster, let me know who was who and what class they were in, it’s just that simple
Loghan Johnson
Some players have exploded in a big way like 6’3 P RyLee Grays, pun intended, and she has simply gone off during the preseason. Loghan Johnson, Kameryn Phillips and Dalanna Carter have brought plenty of heat against some quality talent and solidified their BCS status as well as others. Samantha Wagner has already committed to Baylor without scoring her first basket in high school, Gisella Maul had BCS offers in the 7th grade and seeing the versatility from 6’3 Maddie Cox, I watched her dropping threes during halftime of sister Lauren’s games as a 3rd or 4th grader, locks her in at BCS as well. By the way, sister Lauren is coming off of a National Championship at Baylor, saw her in the 8th grade at Prime Time Nationals and said she’d make a run at top player in her class, in the country, look it up, but again I was right because she was more than just a volleyball player, that will never get old.
Aarianna MastersSeveral players I hadn’t seen before made the list, 6’3 D’Asia Thomas simply left me speechless, Mia Galbraith, Brooke Moses and Emillia Steele all left lasting first impressions during the PassThaBall All Star Weekend but then you have those that just keep progressing and what I’m seeing in the jumps from certain players like 6’6 Abbie Boutlier, Aariana Masters and even newly added Aniyah Sanford who had back to back steals against one of the top guards in the state and finished with “and ones” proving one more, size doesn’t matter, when you can play. I’ll break the positions down later but here are the updates
