They’ve always been one of those “in your face” squads that brought heat baseline to baseline which turns into layups galore and this years squad will be doing the same thing. Seniors like D’Nae Johnson and Caprice Morgan whose athleticism provided pressure defense yet it also enabled her to attack the basket from everywhere while Peyton Lee just battles for everything, on the floor, in the stands, wherever and her acrobatic shots were definitely among the highlights as well as Kylie Minter who was dropping the long ball with ease but the Big Three were on as well
Niyah Johnson2021
Niyah Johnson-6’0 P- physical on both ends rebounds strong and finishes the same way. I always liked her effort and she still simply gets after it however watching her step out of the paint to defend on the perimeter told me a lot as she continues to show more and her inside presence will be key because it sets the tone for a variety of guards
Jermia Green-5’7 G- she’s one of “those” guards I’m talking about and I’ve been talking about her for quite some time as she’s listed as one of the top guards in her class. Explosive off the dribble, she finishes with ease, with either hand yet her stop and pop for the midrange going full speed is one of the best in the state. On top of all that, she handles the ball, she sees the floor and can drop the three, did I mention she plays the passing lane
Kenna Gibson
2022
Kenna Gibson-5’7 G-as much as I liked her game before she was even in high school and watching her progression on the court, she simply left me speechless over the weekend because I was somewhat confused after she changed her number because I’m thinking “it looks like her” but speaking of numbers, she put them up with regularity. The long ball was always there but watching her slice through defenders for either the mid or just taking it to the rim was something to see as she jumps on Texas 2022 Watch List
