The 3-point shot is becoming a bigger and bigger part of the game every year and every year, more and more players work tirelessly to improve their ability to shoot the long ball. Let's take a look at some of the players in Colorado who proved last year that they can shoot from deep better than the rest. Heidi Haze, 2020, 5-5, G, ThunderRidge She led her team in scoring last year and ranked 13th in the state in 3-pointers made. Haze shows great ability shooting off the dribble and getting her hands ready to shoot before the ball comes to her. Aaliyah Sabala, 2020, 5-5, G, Lakewood Sabala can shoot of the dribble, as well as off the catch, and is a nightmare to deal with because of her ball-handling skills and her court vision. Lakewood has a great player in Sabala, and she is one of two good shooters on her team along with Nadia Trevizo-Medina. Sabala led her team with 3-point attempts and percentage, and will continue to stretch the floor with her quick release in 2019-20. Josephine Howery, 2020, 5-9, G, St. Mary’s She averaged 19.1 points per game last year and was named the CHSAA 3A Player of the Year. She has led her team to two consecutive state championships in Class 3A, utilizing the one dribble pull-up to maximize her shooting efficiency. She'll be fun to watch for one more season at St. Mary's. Megan Pohs, 2021, 5-3, G, Mullen Really patient on the offensive end, Pohs can certainly handle pressure. A natural born leader on her team, she does a great job getting her teammates involved as she waits for her turn to be aggressive on the offensive end. She scored a season high last year with 25 points against a team that won state in 5A. Genevieve Gudino, 2021, 5-6, G, Erie On her way from Holy Family to Erie via transfer, Gudino had shown that she has great shooting technique and mechanics. She led her team in points per game last year and can shoot the ball from deep, which will only stretch the floor that much farther as teams to try to stop her.
