Things change and shift opinions pretty often, my predictions made a couple of months ago are most likely different from what they are now as I’ve had more time to be around the players and evaluate them further.
State Championship Favorite: Seton Catholic
Due to recent transfer news, which we will get to in a bit, I believe that Seton Catholic has cemented itself as the clear favorites as of right now. I also believe they have a high chance of potentially repeating the year after due to all of their star players being juniors and sophomores. Look at their roster and it is riddled with talent. Amanda Barcello, Isabella DiGiovanni, Annemarie Trojanovich, Lexi McNabb, Sasha Daniels, and Jamie Gillian. All of these girls can play! Add in the coaching of Karen Self and I think you have a clear cut favorite in 4A.
State Championship Runner-Up: Shadow Mountain
During the summer, I predicted Shadow Mountain to repeat as I thought they were the clear cut favorite. That stayed true until I heard of the news that Heavenly Greer has transferred. I think the team will greatly miss Greer and everything that she does. However, they still have a ton of talent that will allow them to go far into the playoffs. Senya Rabouin and Dyamond Butler-Worley are two of the top recruits in the 2020 class. Zhane Jordan and Sissy Paloma also come into the mix and add some great play. They’ll definitely be a good team but I think Seton Catholic is just too deep of a roster for 4A to handle.
