Many of these girls played key roles as Freshmen during the 2018-2019 season, so look for them to continue contributing in big ways this coming season. Below is a look at the Top-12 2-Guard prospects in Indiana’s Class of 2022, with additional comments to follow.

One of the things I look for in a prospect, and one of the things that can make a recruit incredibly valuable, is versatility. There might not be anyone much more versatile at this position in 2022 right now than Rayah Kincer of Franklin Central High School. Rayah is a long, wiry strong, fluid, and smooth wing. She has a solid handle and can run offense from time to time, she has a nice-looking jumper that will only get more consistent as she gains strength, plus she’s a willing and capable defender who can take on 2-Guards, Small Forwards, and even bigger Point Guards. She also plays with a quiet toughness, physicality, and a nice motor.
One prospect certainly flying under the radar right now is Iatia Poston of Gary’s Lighthouse College Prep Academy. Iatia is a long, wiry strong, and athletic wing who moves well in all directions. She has a good all-around feel for the game, and she’s a playmaker at both ends of the floor who can rebound, defend, slash, and score it at a high level. Last season she averaged 12.6 points, 5.3 rebounds, and 3.3 steals per game for Lighthouse, and I’d anticipate all of those numbers growing a great deal this coming Winter.
Park Tudor High School’s Halle Shelt has basketball experience throughout her household, with her sister Jasmine preparing for her Senior season at Kentucky Wesleyan University, and her father J.R. taking the reins at Park Tudor this year, after having been a successful boys’ coach at both Fishers and Lawrence Central High School. Halle is a strong, tough-nosed, and extremely physical wing. She competes at both ends of the floor, and she too plays with some versatility. She can handle it a little, knock down an open rhythm jumper, but she’s best attacking the basket straight-line. Defensively, she can take on wings and guards, but she’s tough enough to match up with some power forwards.
Someone I’m guessing many of you aren’t terribly familiar with is Gracie Gilland of Delta High School. She doesn’t spend any time on the travel circuit because she is a really nice soccer prospect, and that seems to be where her college future is. She is a nice athlete in all directions, she can do a variety of things for the Eagles, and she stepped immediately onto the Varsity floor last year as a Freshman and averaged 9.2 points, 4.3 rebounds, and 2.3 steals for a veteran squad. With a couple of graduation losses, I’d look for her to possibly be a mid-teens scorer during the 2019-2020 season.
