But many of the players who make such teams are seniors, and seniors graduate. Let’s continue our look at the Class 4A players in Colorado who were voted to the CHSAA all-state team last winter and are returning to their teams’ rosters in 2019-20.

HONORABLE MENTION
Breanna Fowler, 2021, 5-8, G, Berthoud
The Spartans had quite the three-headed monster last winter with Fowler (16.8 ppg), Emily Cavey (14.8 ppg) and Sydney Leeper (12.7 ppg). Even with three players scoring in double figures, it was Fowler who was driving the bus. She led the team with 3.5 assists per game and her 2.8 steals a night often translated into instant offense for the Spartans. If fowler continues to develop as a 3-point shooter, this could be a big winter for the Berthoud junior.
Gracie Gallegos, 2022, 6-0, G, Mullen
With three players – Megan Pohs, Imani Perez and Gallegos – returning after garnering all-state honors in ’18-19, the Mullen Mustangs have a lot to look forward to in the coming years. That’s pretty scary considering they were 4A runners-up last winter. PGH Colorado’s No. 6-ranked 2022 player, Gallegos did well to carve out a role in last year’s playoff run and averaged 5.9 points per game as a freshman.
Courtney Hank, 2021, 5-10, F, Green Mountain
Coming off an 18-win season, Green Mountain is going to have some studs next year and Hank is one of them. As a sophomore Hank helped the Rams challenge Evergreen for the Jeffco League title and will do so once again. She averaged 12.4 points and 6.2 rebounds last season and with a couple key seniors moving on after the ’18-19 campaign, Hank likely will have to do a little more this winter.
Nicole Levine, 2021, 5-6, G, Evergreen
Levine backed up a 20-point scorer in Claudia Dillon last season and will play a much bigger role, scoring-wise, this winter. As a sophomore, Levine averaged 8.9 points, 3.2 rebounds, 2.0 assists and 2.4 steals. It would also be wise to keep an eye on several other up-and-coming Evergreen players including seniors Hayley Dillon Anna Cimler.
Liberty Line, 2021, 5-6, G, Ponderosa
Shooting 35 percent from 3-point range as a sophomore, Line helped the Mustangs win 17 games and reach the Sweet 16 last season. Her average of 16.0 points was tops on the squad and also averaged 5.6 rebounds and 2.5 steals a game. Ponderosa returns its top three scorers and rebounders, including seniors Katherine Higgins (11.3 points, 9.4 rebounds) and Carolyn Ho (5.0 points, 3.9 assists), so watch out for the Mustangs again in ’19-20.
Jocelyn Marquez, 2020, 5-2, G, Pueblo Central
Marquez was among the top scorers in the 4A South Central League last season and was the author of several huge point totals. Against Silver Creek on Nov. 30, she scored 39 of her team’s 61 points in a win. Marquez poured in 20 or more points in at least six games and could be counted on for around three steals a night at the defensive end.
Seneya Martinez, 2022, 5-8, SG, Northridge
The 2018-19 campaign was an excellent start to Martinez’s career, as she led the Grizzlies with 12.2 points a game. As a freshman, she also provided Northridge with 5.7 rebounds, 2.3 steals and 1.7 assists per game. She scored 20 or more points in four games and has given her team a lot to look forward to in her sophomore year.
Erin Mauro, 2020, 5-6, G, Pueblo County
One of the rare players named to an all-state team that didn’t lead her team in scoring, Mauro was actually third in the Hornets’ stat book with 8.4 points last season. Lauren Avila (2020) was first at 10.8 points and Rose Weimer (2021) was second at 8.8 points, and both players averaged over six boards a night. Mauro, however, was also a terror on defense and collected 3.6 steals a game while also rebounding at a 4.8-per-game clip.
The third installment of our look at the ’18-19 CHSAA 4A all-state team will be posted on Sunday, Sept. 29.
