Players to Watch from the Rebels
Natalie Mikrot, Guard, Sophomore (2022), A Top 75 Prospect in our PGH Minnesota Class of 2022 Rankings
Mikrot has been with the Rebels varsity team since a 7th grader and as a sophomore, is already closing in on near 1000 points for her career with the Rebels. She will be depended on heavily this year as she was the scoring leader last year averaging 14 ppg. Has a very quick release on her shot, so look for her to be a large factor this year again for the Rebels.
Ella Rhoades, Forward, Junior (2021)
Rhoades was a 10 and 8 player last year and she should improve since last year. Rhoades has been on Rebels varsity since her 8th-grade year, so like Mikrot has lots of experience with this team. She also has a great knockdown three-pointer she can utilize and plays a very fast game as a forward, who also was the top rebounder from last year for the Rebels.
Maci Kukuk, Guard, Sophomore (2022)
Kukuk is another player that has some longevity for the Rebels as she has played varsity since 8th grade. Kukuk is a solid defender and a good outside shooter that will be in the mix frequently for Moose Lake-Willow River this upcoming season.
Monica Mikrot, Guard/Forward, Junior (2021)
Natalie’s older sister, Monica will be a great dual player for the Rebels this season. She is an excellent shooter. She quietly fills up the stat sheet and her basketball IQ is at a high level. She can have a good presence inside or outside the three-point line.
Team Goals for the Rebels
“Building off last year’s success is key” head coach Padrick Judd told Prep Girls Hoops Minnesota. With this goal in mind, Moose Lake-Willow River hopes that success wins them a conference championship, gets them to host a home playoff game and make a deep run at the state tournament.
Conference Rivals for the Rebels
The Esko Eskomos have been the top dog in the Big Polar Conference in recent years. “Every team will get a little better this year in this conference, so we won’t take anyone lightly,” Coach Judd told Prep Girls Hoops Minnesota. Moose Lake-Willow River will need to come ready to play every night to compete with Esko and stay ahead of the South Ridge Panthers like last year, as they were only one game behind the Rebels in the Big Polar Conference.
Biggest Improvements That Can Be Made for the Rebels
The Rebels look to get better in every category from A-Z this season. Their biggest focus will be rebounding, as Coach Judd has made that a focal point this summer to improve on the Rebels rebounding ability from last season.
