Today we highlight some of the best defenders in the 2020 class. Prospects could specialize in perimeter or post defense, we will be covering both styles of defense.
Jasmine Singleton 5’6 2020 G Millennium
Jasmine Singleton is probably the best perimeter defender in the 2020 class. Defense is definitely her strong-suit. She is very quick and loves to be physical. Singleton turns defense into her offense and can really get into the heads of her defenders.
Dyamond Butler-Worley 6’0 2020 F Shadow Mountain
DBW is probably a better post defender, but is more than capable of being a good perimeter defender. She has good mobility for her size. Her great strength is what makes her a great post defender. It is very hard to sit and seal on her, DBW isn’t afraid to battle down low and push out her opponents.
Elysia Fleetwood 5’9 2020 G/F Xavier Prep
Fleetwood has the potential to be the best defender in the state, in my opinion. She has the quickness and mobility to stick with guards, while having the strength and stature to bang with bigs down low. This is a big aspect of her game that adds to her overall versatility.
Jada Pourier 6’0 2020 F Valley Chrisitan
Pourier is a very good defender both perimeter and post, but I love what she brings to her team defense. She really understands rotations and help side. If you watch her play, she is always jabbing to the driver, recovering to her assignments, and rotating to help side. She really elevates her team’s overall defense.
