The Dallas Mavericks put on a great event called the Dallas Mavericks Fall Classic it brings together the best schools in the Dallas area to play in a 32 Team Bracket series to find out who is the best in the area and put together their Preview Season Rankings in my opinion. We watched teams play from Friday - Saturday and we were impressed with the talent that the state of Texas has to offer in girls basketball. The arena was fabulous and the kids had major fun on that professional floor, being the home of the Dallas Mavericks and the Dallas Wings. PGHCalifornia staff was really impressed with what we saw on this trip to Texas.
Top Performers for Cedar Hill (TX):
20’ 5’11, F, Madison Carter - She was a genuine post player on the block, worked hard for her team and was a relentless rebounder, great finisher in the paint off post moves.
20’, 5’4, PG, Iyonia Smith - She was a solid guard of the bench for her team, swing thru one dribble and pop from the midrange, she was showing her bag of tricks.
20’ 5’6, G, Makalah Robinson - Main point guard for her team, ran the offense and facilitated for her teammates, decent defender and skill set. Crafty floater going to the rim, still developing it in our opinion.
21’, 5’5, PG, Carolynn Washington - She was an agile player with some skill set, they ran screen plays for her the whole tournament to knock down some three pointer.
21’, 5’7, CG, Portia Adams - She had a college-ready body and was a player with athletic abilities on the floor, could drive and finish at the rim and could really handle the basketball.
Top Performers for Frisco Memorial (TX):
21’, 5’5, G, Alexis Darce - She was a pure post presence in our opinion, strong in the paint and could play with her back to basket as we watched.
22’, 5’9, G, Jordan Conerly - She was a guard with some speed and agility, could get to the charity stripe at will, this was her game strength that helped her team. Witnessed her stroke the three ball as well with much consistency.
22’, 5’11, F, Kailee Deffbaugh - She was an agile scorer on the floor, nice size for her position, seen her as a point forward all weekend, could score from all three level on the floor and did some really good things to help her team stay in the game.
23’, 5’5, G, Angel Alexander - She was a pure shooter, knocked down three pointers from wing and corners all tournament. Pure stroke on her shot and was a legitimate threat from all three levels on the floor.
