Starting off, we will go over some of the top recruits from each class. You’ll see more in depth coverage in these scouting reports and receive unbiased opinions on player’s strengths, weaknesses, and projections.
Last season, Marisa averaged 16.1 points per game, 6.8 rebounds per game, and 2.4 steals per game for Valley Vista. She is currently ranked at our #2 spot in the 2021 rankings.
Strengths
First off, Marisa is an athletic freak. She has speed, size, jumping ability, and length. She stands at 6’1 and is ridiculously close to dunking already. Her arms are super long and she has the speed to match that. This makes her a nightmare defensively. She is one of the best perimeter defenders in the 2021 class. Offensively, she is quickly improving her jumper to become more consistent and she uses her speed and size to get to the basket very well.
Weaknesses
Marisa just needs to polish off that jumper and add that final piece into her arsenal to get to that next level of great players. It is improving and she has shown that over the summer often but I want to see how well she shoots it this high school season. Additionally, I believe that MDJ will play the 2 or 3 spot in college so she needs to develop more guard skills. Last season, she averaged 0.8 assists per game, I would like to see those numbers jump up to around 4 or 5 assists per game.
Projection
I think the sky is the limit for this kid. I firmly believe that basketball will take her as far as she is willing to work. I think she will go to a high major program and I would not be shocked if we saw her playing professionally one day. She is already an amazing prospect and she still hasn’t scratched the surface of what she could be, she has so much potential.
