As we enter the 2019-20 high school basketball season in Kansas, we at Prep Girls Hoops will preview Kansas City Area schools. Giving you details on key players, season expectations and more.
In this article, we look at Schlagle High School in Kansas City, Kansas. The Lady Stallions are coming off another KCAL Conference Championship, a 5A state appearance, and overall record of 19-6 in 2018-19.
Players to watch
Ishante Suttington, Guard, Senior, (2020)
Photo Cred: WYCO DailyA 5’9 combo guard and recent Hutchinson Community College Commit is coming off a great junior year campaign. Her ability to penetrate the lane and finish through contact separates her from guards her size. She possesses a deep shooting range that allows her another great option for scoring. Ishante averaged 20pts, 4rbs, 3ast, and 2stls in 2018/2019 and will look to lead Schlagle back to state this season with her on court productivity.
Camille Evans, Guard, Senior, (2020)
Photo Cred: WYCO DailyThe 5’8, unsigned senior point guard is one of the most underrated kids in the 2020 class. Evans averaged 10pts, 7rbs, 6ast, and 4 steals in 2018/2019. Camille is a quick guard with good handle and IQ. She has great vision, which helps her read defenses and create for teammates. A high level on ball defender, which allows her to disrupt opposing teams offenses.
Tylieea Wallace, Power Forward/Center, Junior, (2021)
Photo Cred: WYCO DailyA six foot, physical post player will be another returning starter for the Lady Stallions. Tylieea, a highly skilled big has some of the best footwork I’ve seen for a player of her size and age. She finishes just as strong left as she does with her dominant right hand. She has great hands, vision and high IQ for a interior player. A great post defender and even better team defender. Wallace is coming off of a summer playing high level AAU with KC Dream 2021, one of the top development programs in the Kansas City area. She will look to increase her production this year as Schlagle looks make a run for another conference championship and Class 5A State appearance.
Schlagle is under 1st year head coach and former Kansas Jayhawk, Tyler Johnson. With a strong returning core, and a good group of role players the Lady Stallions are picked to be one of the top teams in Kansas again this season.
Upcoming Games
Schlagle opens the season at home, on Tuesday December 10th, 2019 against Topeka High School.
