Continue ReadingWe are now in November and that means high school basketball is soon to be under way! Virtually all high schools have try-outs/first days of practice this upcoming Monday, November 4th. With most of this month being practices, as the games typically start around November 25th, there is still not a ton of basketball going on.
I am always trying to keep our site fresh with new content and like to get a little creative with our article ideas. At this point, I feel like we’ve pretty much exhausted any type of preview articles between August through October. Due to the large amount of preview articles that we have been publishing these last few months, it is unlikely that we see any this month. However, that could change is we think of some creative preview piece.
So what are we going to see this month?
Prior to taking over on the girl’s side, I used to write primarily on the boy’s side. I used to do these scouting reports that provided a more in depth look at players. In these articles, I would go over strengths, weaknesses, recommendations, and project where they’ll go at the next level. I’d like to bring these articles over to the girl’s side and provide our talented young ladies with a more in depth analysis.
Keep in mind that these would be my opinions on the players skill, you may have other opinion which is great! Additionally, do not take the weaknesses portion as an insult, rather as a constructive criticism. As scouts, it is our job to help players recognize what they need to improve on in order to become a better all around player.
As of right now, I am unsure of how we will pick who’s next up for the scouting reports. May just go through our top 10 players from each class then continuously move down the list. Another idea I had was sending out a tweet and allowing the basketball community to pick who they want to see next. Still undecided on how I want to do that but follow me on twitter @CoachDomAZ just in case we go the twitter route.
Wrapping up this article, we will start those scouting report articles very soon and then of course we will be covering Thanksgiving tournaments once they all get started! Exciting times here as the high school season is almost under way!
