10 Best: Springboro (OH) vs Hamilton Southeastern (IN)

Two very different teams battled it out Saturday in a battle of neighboring states. Hamilton Southeastern led by Miss Basketball frontrunner <a href="https://prepgirlshoops.com/player/sydney-parrish/">Sydney Parrish</a> took on a very deep Springboro (OH) team. HSE got off to an early lead as they hit four shots from three in the first few minutes of the game. Springboro junior Peyton Nation stepped up following the HSE run and finished with 8 1Q points. HSE led 16-12 after one. <a href="https://prepgirlshoops.com/player/sydney-parrish/">Sydney Parrish</a> put up 13 points in the 2Q for HSE and they were able to take a 30-28 lead into the half. The 3Q was neck and neck the whole way. Springboro dominated on the glass and scored at will down low. Parrish was a force for HSE throughout the quarter and HSE took a 44-41 lead into the 4Q as <a href="https://prepgirlshoops.com/player/lauren-morris/">Lauren Morris</a> connected with a three as the quarter ended. HSE began the 4Q on a 7-0 run and never looked back. Springboro started to trap late but HSE handled the pressure extremely well. <a href="https://prepgirlshoops.com/player/ryan-viele/">Ryan Viele</a> and <a href="https://prepgirlshoops.com/player/sydney-parrish/">Sydney Parrish</a> knocked down a ton of free throws in the final minutes to put the game away. HSE won with a final of 62-51. <hr /> <strong>MVP: <a href="https://prepgirlshoops.com/player/sydney-parrish/">Sydney Parrish</a> - 2020 - 6'2 W - HSE - Oregon Commit</strong> Parrish showed us exactly why she is the front runner for Miss Basketball. She got off to a slow start in the first quarter and deferred to teammates. In the 2Q, Parrish started to get hot scoring 13 in and finishing with 18 points to end the half. Parrish helped spark a big 7-0 HSE run in the 4Q with her shooting and defensive play. She finished the game with 35 points. <strong>Best Offensive Player: <a href="https://prepgirlshoops.com/player/sydney-parrish/">Sydney Parrish</a> - 2020 - 6'2 W - HSE - Oregon Commit</strong> Parrish ability to score is head and shoulders above other players her age. She managed to score from all three levels knocking down 5 threes and getting to the line several times. One thing that flies under the radar is the way Parrish plays in the flow of the offense. She will play down low if need or she can step out and hit from beyond the arch. <strong>Best Post Presence: Peyton Nation - 2021 - 5'10 F - Springboro (OH)</strong> Nation was one of the main reasons Springboro was able to keep the game so close in the first 3Q. She had 8 points in the 1Q and dominated on the glass. Nation's ability to use so many different moves around the hoop really stood out to me. She played extremely tough down low and was not afraid to battle. <strong>Best Under the Radar Performance: <a href="https://prepgirlshoops.com/player/lauren-morris/">Lauren Morris</a> - 2020 - 5'5 G - HSE</strong> Morris hit one of the games biggest shots at the end of the 3Q to put HSE up 44-41. She finished the game with 8 points and she had several big plays on the defensive end. Morris moves very well without the ball and she used her motor to contribute to the game in many different ways. <strong>Best Underclassman: <a href="https://prepgirlshoops.com/player/ryan-viele/">Ryan Viele</a> - 2022 - 5'7 G - HSE</strong> Viele came out and provided HSE with a shooting spark early in the 1Q.  She played hard on defense and showed her high IQ throughout the game. As Springboro started to foul late in the game Viele knocked down several big free throws to close the game out for HSE. <strong>Best Rebounder: Peyton Nation - 2021 - 5'10 F - Springboro (OH)</strong> Nation's work on the glass paid off as she was able to score several buckets off of second-chance points. Her ability to move quickly around the hoop makes life difficult for opposing players. We didn't have an overall rebound total, but Nation more than likely led the game in rebounds. <strong>Best Non Stat Sheet Standout: <a href="https://prepgirlshoops.com/player/makayla-hinshaw/">Makayla Hinshaw</a> - 2022 - 5'8 G - HSE</strong> Hinshaw hit from downtown for HSE to put them off to a great start. She finished the game with 5 points but she contributed all over the court. Hinshaw did a great job of moving throughout the offense and guarding defensively. <strong>Best Hidden Talent: <a href="https://prepgirlshoops.com/player/riley-makalusky/">Riley Makalusky</a> - 2023 - 5'9 W - HSE</strong> Makalusky has been working her way into the varsity rotation recently. She is a young prospect with good length and a ton of talent. Makalusky moves well without the ball and has flashes of potential scoring the ball, she will keep improving with age. Makalusky's ceiling is extremely high. <strong>Most Efficient: <a href="https://prepgirlshoops.com/player/jordan-hobbs/">Jordan Hobbs</a> - 2021 - 6'2 W - Springboro</strong> Hobbs did a little bit of everything for Springboro. She had several great moves in the paint and hit a shot from the mid-range. Hobbs showed a ton of potential and did a lot with the touches she was given. <strong>Best Coaches Decision: HSE not guarding the perimeter very tightly </strong> HSE sagged off on the perimeter most of the game. Springboro struggled to knock down shots from the outside and it was one of the reasons HSE was able to put the game away quickly in the 4Q. &nbsp;
