Kalena Myers Kalena Myers 5'6" | CG Apple Valley | 2020 State MN , Guard, Apple Valley (2020)
Myers was a player that although started with limited long-range shot production, ended as one of the top two scorers from the Eagles. Meyers battled hard and deserves to be one of the key contributors that kept Apple Valley present in this game.
Madison Hoehne Madison Hoehne 6'0" | SF Blaine | 2021 State MN , Guard, Blaine (2021)
Hoehne played extremely well in this one as a key player off the ball for the Bengals. She did have her fair share of points, but was one of Blaine’s key contributors as far as rebounds and dishing the ball to the right player at the right time type of player. She gets my team player of the game in this one.
Chyna Young Chyna Young 5'7" | SG Apple Valley | 2021 State MN , Guard, Apple Valley (2021)
Young was not only the leading scorer for the Eagles, but she was also the hardest worker I saw on Saturday afternoon for this struggling Apple Valley squad. Finishing with 9 points, Young was a player, in my opinion, should have played more minutes in the 1st half, which would have given Apple Valley a loss by a better margin. Chyna was a physical player on Saturday and not only wasn’t afraid to dribble drive on the Bengals defense but did everything she could to cash in on key rebounds and took the ball to the rim regardless of the size of the player that was in front of her from the Bengals.
Anna Garfield, Guard, Blaine (2020)Garfield was another key player against the Apple Valley Eagles. Finishing with 16 points, Garfield continued her stellar senior campaign with the Bengals by using her quick shot and dribble and shoot technique with ease against the weaker Apple Valley defense. Garfield has been a diamond in the rough player for Prep Girls Hoops this season, as she has made a significant difference for the Bengals offense this season.
Game MVP: Kayla Bohr Kayla Bohr 5'10" | CG Blaine | 2020 State MN , Forward, Blaine ( #133 in our Class of 2020 rankings)
The second chance opportunities for Bohr is what made her overpower the Eagles defense with ease. Finishing with 29 points on the night, Bohr raised her stock a fair amount by her rebounding ability plus her ability to score at will against the smaller post of Apple Valley. Bohr is was a grinder in this one, and never was afraid to muscle up against the Eagles to bring her team over a dominating victory against struggling Apple Valley (0-5).
Blaine (5-1) will start their conference play against Anoka (2-2) on Tuesday night at home.
Apple Valley (0-5) will also go home on Tuesday night and play a tough Lakeville North (2-2) team that features Lauren Jensen Lauren Jensen 5'10" | CG Lakeville North | 2020 State MN , who is averaging 23.5 ppg thus far this season for the Panthers and was PGH Minnesota’s AAU player of the year in 2018
