Continue ReadingSeton Catholic Prep sophomore Lexi McNabb had a stellar performance in the Sentinels’ 61-56 win over the Shadow Mountain Matadors on Tuesday night. With 16 points on the night, a number of both offensive and defensive rebounds and a handful of assists and steals, McNabb earned my baller of the night honor.
“One of the things Lexi did much better tonight was rebound the ball, especially down the stretch in the fourth quarter,” Coach Karen Self said. “She had an all-around great game, and I don’t think that I could have asked for more out of her. She did everything we asked.”
McNabb came out hot from the very beginning, hitting two consecutive threes in the first as the Sentinels jumped out to an early 24-7 lead over Shadow Mountain. McNabb also had a clutch play in the third quarter to close it out, putting two more points on the board for the Sentinels as it was a back and forth battle for the lead.

Shots seemed to be falling for McNabb all night, as she was a key factor to the team’s win. But while she looked outstanding offensively, she also stepped it up defensively, which is something Coach Self really highlighted about McNabb’s performance.
“She took multiple roles. She had to guard Senya (Rabouin), she had to guard Zhane (Jordan), she had to guard some pretty talented kids and she had some moments where she was kind of our designated helper and she was collecting some rebounds. She did a great job cleaning up the boards in the last two possessions, and that’s not normally a role that she takes,” Coach Self Said.
For McNabb, her performance on the court is partially dependent on how she carries herself. While she is only a Sophomore, she plays with the poise and composure of someone who has been playing for a lot longer in high pressure situations.
“We wanted to win this game, so you just do what you’ve got to do. You can’t think about it too much, you’ve got to just be calm and play your game,” McNabb said.

McNabb didn’t want to take too much credit for her performance though, and said that it was really a team effort to get the win tonight.
“We came together as a team in this game in a way that we’ve never seen before and it helped us in the end,” McNabb said.
