Michigan’s Miss Basketball is one of the most prestigious titles in all of high school sports. Some of the all time greats and legends of the sport have held that honor. Miss Basketball is such a prized award that even being considered as a candidate should be viewed as the highest of compliments. [player_tooltip player_id="126233" first="Jasmine" last="Clerkley"] deserves that high praise and should be considered a possible winner of the Miss Basketball title.
Clerkley is a 6’0" senior power forward at Okemos High School. For all 4 years of her high school basketball career, she has been considered a top 5 prospect in Michigan. Prep Girls Hoops Michigan currently has Clerkley ranked #3 in the state in the class of 2020. She will be taking her talents to Bowling Green State University next year. Clerkley will be joining fellow state of Michigan star [player_tooltip player_id="23755" first="Sophie" last="Dziekan"] (Brighton) at BGSU.
Clerkley is as skilled as any player in the state. She’s incredibly strong, moves well, and is deceptively smooth. In fact, she was the 2019 MHSAA Division 1 Shot Put state champion. Clerkley is active on the glass and attacks a rebound. She’s dangerous on a 2 dribble drive from mid range and brushes off contact when finishing. Clerkley will be a regular double-double performer this season, just like last year. She has the ability to be a matchup nightmare for most opponents. Clerkley does a good job using her quick feet and body positioning to negate height disadvantages she may face. She has a dependable mid range jumper that adds to her versatility. That versatility is obviously a huge value at the high school level, and will continue to provide an advantage at the next level.
[player_tooltip player_id="126233" first="Jasmine" last="Clerkley"] has had a stellar high school career at Okemos and would be a deserving winner of the Michigan Miss Basketball award for the 2019-2020 season.
