The power rankings for this week are determined by games completed prior to December 11th and all teams listed belong to the Northeast District board and subsequent sectional and district tournaments.
Division 1
1. Medina
2. GlenOak
3. Stow
4. Hoban
5. Nordonia
Nordonia moves in to the top 5 after a huge Suburban League conference victory over Wadsworth. They followed that up with an ugly win – but a win nonetheless – against Hudson. The Knights have quite the early-season resume. In addition to their wins against Wadsworth and Hudson, they have already defeated North Canton Hoover, Akron Buchtel, South Range and Warren Howland.

Division 2
1. Laurel
2. Akron St. Vincent St. Mary’s
3. Gilmour Academy
4. West Geauga
5. Akron Buchtel
Legendary coach Bob Beutel is back to his winning ways at West Geauga. Athena Hocevar had to sit for the 2nd half and tournament last season, after a transfer from Gilmour Academy. The good news for the Wolverines is that she can play the entirety of her junior year – joining a very talented/athletic group that has started the season 4-0 with wins over Hudson, Riverside, Hawken and Geneva.
Division 3
1. Chippewa
2. Elyria Catholic
3. Loudonville
4. Massillon Tuslaw
5. Apple Creek Waynedale
Tuslaw enters the top 5 with a 4-1 record, after impressive wins over Proctorville Fairland, Fairless and Northwest. They opened the season with a win over Garfield Heights Trinity – before losing a close one to Louisville. Waynedale defeated Smithville, knocking them out of the top 5. Both teams have tough games coming up with Tuslaw facing CVCA and Waynedale taking on Ashland Crestview.
Division 4
1. Cornerstone Christian Academy
2. Dalton
3. Western Reserve (Berlin Center)
4. McDonald
5. Newton Falls
McDonald has impressed. Their win over Champion caught our attention, propelling them into this week’s top 5 for DIV. Dalton has a huge match-up on Thursday with Chippewa – the winner will be on top of the WCAL – a place that both teams would certainly like to be.
