Continue ReadingPerry High School junior Madison Conner already has an impressive list of accomplishments in her basketball career. On Friday, December 20th, she added another one to her list in the game against Sabino High School in the Nike Tournament of Champions. Conner entered the game with 977 career points, where she went on to score 29 in the game and join the 1000-point club.
Conner is already having an impressive season, showing how much she’s continued growing as a player as time goes on. While Perry may have struggled a bit at the tournament, Conner really came through in the games as one of the team’s most reliable players and showed why she’s such a leader.
There were multiple instances where she put the team on her back and attempted to help lift them out of the slump they were in. She had 16 points in Perry’s loss to Valley Vista on Friday, and 19 points in Perry’s loss to National Christian Academy.
In the game against Sabino, she lead the breakaway Perry had from Sabino coming out of the half, where they were able to go on an absolute tear. Her outstanding play over the weekend certainly put her on more people’s radar, and even was able to earn her an offer from Duke University.
It’s still fairly early in the season for Perry, who didn’t begin play until mid-November at the Hoop Hall Classic. Over winter break, the team will be traveling to Las Vegas to compete in another tournament, where Conner will certainly have a chance to shine once again. Their next game is against Elko on December 27th.
Conner currently sits at 1,041 career points and has a great chance to possibly break into the 2,000-point club by the end of her senior season. Keep an eye on Conner’s career as the season continues to unfold. There’s a great chance she wins the Player of the Year award in Arizona.
