Whitney Tennison, Guard, Princeton, (2020)
Tennison had a fundamentally sound game for the Tigers. She has a very consistent jump shot and can be effective with the deep ball. Watch throughout the season, as I think she will be one of two guards in command for the Tigers, the other being 2022 guard Maddie James Maddie James 6'0" | SG Princeton | 2022 State MN .
Morgan Nylund, Guard, Proctor, (2020)
Nylund was a good third option for the Rails in this one. She was a solid shooter and even showed off her long-range game last night. Her scoring was key in times when there weren’t lots of scoring for the Rails which lead them to a promising win in the Monticello Invitational.
Lauren Bjurman Lauren Bjurman 5'11" | CG Princeton | 2020 State MN , Forward, Princeton (2020)
Bjurman was the best player on the floor for the Tigers last night and gets my Tigers MVP. Her 22 points kept Princeton in the game with her solid inside play. I would love to see more from her collecting rebounds but a 22 point game should hopefully gain her some stock in the Class of 2020 power rankings.
Liz Frase Liz Frase 5'11" | PF Proctor | 2020 State MN , Forward, Proctor (2020)
Frase was my “diamond in the rough” player for the Rails. We’ve seen Sam Pogatchnik, Sam Parendo Sam Parendo 5'9" | CG Proctor | 2020 State MN , and Katelyn Marunich Katelyn Marunich 6'2" | C Proctor | 2020 State MN in our top 150 in the class of 2020 for the Rails, but Frase was a contender yesterday that wasn’t on our radar here at Prep Girls Hoops. She compiled a nice 15 point game yesterday and is a solid player with her mid-range shot and drives to the bucket. She is a sturdy forward that isn’t afraid to be aggressive inside either.
Game MVP
Sam Pogatchnik Sam Pogatchnik 5'9" | CG Proctor | 2020 State MN , Guard, Proctor (2020) Bemidji State Commit
The Beavers are getting a good one in Pogatchnik. She is such a persistent scorer with a great outside shot. The Rails rallied off of her 20 point game last night as they were victorious due to her scoring ability from all over. She also had a few rebounds to go along with her prolific scoring attack.
Proctor (8-1) will battle again in Monticello against North Branch (7-2) in a game that should tipoff in about a half an hour here at Noon. This one was a 3:45 tip originally, so if you are heading to Monticello to watch the Rails this afternoon keep that in mind.
Princeton (6-4) will play immediately after Proctor/North Branch and against Sauk Rapids-Rice (1-9) a young squad we saw earlier this season struggle against a good Brainerd team. The Storm played well last night, only losing by 10 to Monticello in the last game of the night on Friday from the Monticello Invitational
