Chief among the Eagles’ undaunted diminutive future core is freshman Charlee “Chuck” Durtsche, whose older sister is the team’s current leader and a comparable prediction of what could be Durtsche’s future floor as a prospect. Already appearing to be ahead of where her older sister was at her age, largely a product of some direct tutelage from the elder Sydnee Durtsche, the younger Durtsche is already exhibiting some very real promise.
“Chuck is a really nice young player and she’s going to do big things for us,” Eagles head coach Paul Arrington said. “Her older sister (Sydnee) works extremely hard and she has learned that from her at a really young age. She has jumped right in at the varsity level and she’s not scared of anything.”
Through the first six games of her prep career, Durtsche is averaging five points and five rebounds per game. At 5-foot-10, Durtsche has accomplished this while playing primarily in the post against far older and larger opponents. Though she has impressive strength for her age, it’s primarily her quickness and unwillingness to give in at this point that makes Durtsche able to compete against such opponents at such a young age.
Durtsche isn’t yet scoring at a high level but also is taking an average of just 5.3 shot per game. She is shooting 41 percent overall and has not attempted a 3-point shot yet, according to MaxPreps. Expect Durtsche to continue improving and quickly become one of the top players in her 2023 graduating class.
