Grace Hatfield (5’6″, 2021, Dove Creek) last year averaged 22.5 points per game leading Colorado in that category. She has great ball handling skills, and show some ability to dribble drive finishing around the rim with soft touch. She shot the ball 193-369 from the field. She is a player that is not afraid to shoot when she has the opportunity. As the season is just getting underway it will be interesting to see how she contributes to her team this year.
Bryn Durrill (5’8″, 2021, Flatirons Academy) is really explosive with her drives, and can finish with either hands making it difficult to contain her. Durrill can play any position on the court making her extremely versatile. She is a tenacious defender and typically draws the assignment of the opposing team’s best player. During her Freshman season at Flatirons Academy she averaged 17.1 points per game for a total of 394 points for the season. Her Sophomore season, she put up a total of 415 points averaging 18.1 points per game along with 27 consecutive free throws in three games to land herself in the CHSAA record books.
“Brynn is the consummate teammate. Since she started playing at 10 years old, she has expected nothing but the very best from herself, whether she is running a “down and back”, finishing off two feet at the rim, or guarding the most explosive player on the opposing team. This effort and attention to detail has translated into teammates who follow her lead in practice, games and in the classroom. Her example is her teaching voice. Seldom does she speak loudly, but when she does her teammates listen with both eyes and ears!” Said Mike Durril
Anela Dixon (2021, Mile High Academy) has been awarded player of the game time after time last year for her team. As a sophomore she averaged 17.6 points per game. The best quality that a player can posses is the ability to put team first over self, and Dixon does a great job looking for her teammates making her unselfish.
Kendyl Kirkwood (5’10, 2021, Fleming) is a smart basketball player. Kirkwood is a very effective player in the post, and has expanded her range on the perimeter. Kendyl shoots it well from the Free Throw line and scores well off of offensive rebounds. There is nothing flashy about Kendyl. She works hard and rebounds well. Kirkwood as a sophomore averaged 15 points per game, 13.3 rebounds per game, 2.3 steals per game. With the first game of the season behind us, Kirkwood put up 16 points, 10 boards, and 3 steals. She is starting the season off right, and only getting better.
Kylie Krise (2022, Briggsdale) one of the top players in her class and leading scorer in 1A. Krise averaged 15.6 points per game as a freshman, 6.2 rebounds per game, 2.9 steals per game. She is a player that gets to her spot early and often. Krise loves to get her points around the rim with her straight line rim attacks. Krise also likes to get out and run in transition. This year in her season debut she put up 21.5 points, 7.5 rebounds, 5 steals. She started out hot and it will be interested to see her continue her dominant performances.
