Mason was all over the court making plays both offensively and defensively. As a vocal leader on the court, she was able to help move the ball around to set up herself and her teammates for success.
“I brought good intensity. I passed the ball. I shot well tonight,” Mason said. “It was a fun game. I was glad I got to get the other girls who are younger involved in the game.
She had some key defensive plays that helped to lift the Wolves to victory, along with 16 points on the night. Mason’s a relentless defender on the court, which is why she was able to continue to force turnovers and nab steals the entire night.
Mason is set to play basketball next year for Hampton University, fulfilling a lifelong dream. While she’s looking forward to the future at Hampton, she says she still has unfinished business here in Arizona as the Wolves are looking to make it to the playoff this year in a stacked division.
“Going into the games, I feel like it should be a good game as long as we play together and we move the ball. We have good intensity on and off the court and if everybody has a positive attitude then it should be a good game,” Mason said.
The Chandler Wolves are currently 10-1 and are preparing to play in the Nike Tournament of Champions this week, where they will face some of the best teams from around the country. Mason knows that this will be a good test for the team to get prepared for their divisional play taking place following winter break.
While Mason and the rest of the Wolves know that it will be no easy task facing teams like Perry, Xavier and Hamilton, they’re ready for the challenge.
