Continue ReadingMarion Harding hosted Westerville South in a non conference game on Tuesday night. South came away with the big win 77-36. The Wildcats are off to a strong start this season with a talented team.
After opening up with a 25-7 lead, the Wildcats had this one in the bag early, stating they were a team of much more talent. The gap would grow to a 45-15 lead at the half and end up being a 41 point lead for the visiting Westerville South team. South moves on just having one loss on the season to a very good Newark team. Marion Harding falls to 2-3 on the season.
Standouts:
Anyssa Jones (2020) | 5-9 G | Westerville South
Jones was a supreme talent compared to anyone else on the court as she was simply just better. The Ohio State commit is a fluid ball handler that gets to where she wants to and doesn’t have to settle for bad shots. Hit open shots, found teammates and forced turnovers. Ending the game with 14 points, in the blowout style win.
Gabby Hutcherson (2020) | 6-2 F | Westerville South
Another Ohio State girls basketball commit that can really go. The senior has length and plays a ton inside, but also can handle the ball, knockdown jumpers and get her teammates involved. Scoring 10 points against the Presidents, Hutcherson was a player of high talent that did basically what she wanted. Solid outing.
Aja Austin (2021) | 6-1 PF | Westerville South
Austin combines skill and size, a combo that was to much for Marion Harding and often any team. Austin gets deep post position that gives the defender no chance to block her shot or even contest it. Rebound well and gathers multiple possessions off missed shots. 10 points this game, a double double threat at anytime.
Justice Steinman-Ross (2022) | 6-1 F | Marion Harding
The Presidents are playing without some injured players and it has allowed Ross to really step up. Inside/out scorer that has a soft touch around the rim, but can step out when needed. Works off the ball, catches inside and looks to score at times. Scored 13 to lead the way for the Presidents.
Nicole Flock (2021) | G | Marion Harding
Flock is one of the more elusive ball handlers for Marion Harding that was on display, as she brings a decent handle to the game. Tough on ball defender for Harding, that competes at a higher level often. Scored eight points for the Presidents, capable shooter and slasher.
