The lady Jags came into this match-up winners of 4 of their last 5 games with their lone loss coming to a tough Jefferson City squad in the championship game of the Capital City Classic holiday tournament. Park Hill entered the contest with a 3 – 0 mark.
A highly competitive game right from the start. The Lady Jags and their dynamic trio of Jaidynn Mason, Lauren Gillig, and Tiyani Rollins made their marks throughout the first half. But it was senior guard Sophie Lopez that started off hot from 3, knocking in two in the first half. Tiyani Rollins brought her usual tough on-ball defense, which lead to some easy fast-break buckets for herself and teammate Jaidynn mason. Lauren did not shot it well from the floor but as usual, she found ways to contribute to her team with 9 boards. Jaidynn was the terrific scorer she has been all season pouring in 19 pts, 9 rebs, 6 ast, and 3 stl.
The Park Hill Lady Trojans came out in the second half and made a run to cut the double-digit half time lead down to 6 points with about 4 minutes left to play in the third quarter. Leading the way for Park Hill was standout guard Kennedy Townsend. Kennedy scored a team-high 15pts, hitting 5 3’s.
Blue Springs South was able to hold on to a 55 – 50 conference road win. The next match-up in late February will be another tough battle.
