Hamilton jumped on Chandler early in the game. Easily taking the lead and controlling the game. They once again relied on their defense to pressure their opponent.
Chandler was missing their PG, Victoria Perez, who is by far their best ball handler. This combined with Hamilton’s tough defense, really hurt Chandler as they had a ton of turnovers.
I will say that Hamilton did not look as strong as they did the night prior against Perry. I asked Hamilton HC about this and he agreed. He said “we looked a little burnt out tonight after a big win last night. I’m just glad we had enough left in the tank to pull this win out”.
I was once again impressed by Amyah Reaves. She is always cool, calm, and collected. She can really lock up on defense as well. I really admire a player that will guard the opposing team’s best player and still produce points for their own team, that’s elite.
Chandler found some success in the third quarter, cutting the lead. Due to the size difference, I assumed Maya Peat would have dominated down low, as she stands at 6’5. However, Hamilton forwards Zakiirah King and Reagan Farrington did a great job of containing Peat and forcing her out of the paint.
Overall, this was a very challenging week for the Huskies, as they took on two of the top 6A teams in consecutive nights. Through their hard work and preparation, they took home two W’s. The Huskies cannot rest on their accomplishments as they face off against Valley Vista next week.
