Neither team had a well-rounded, high-end prospect but there were some things to take away from the game. Hitchcock-Tulare easily handled Aberdeen Christian earning a 63-43 victory.
Best Prospect –
Ashley Masat – Hitchcock-Tulare – (6’0/C/2021) – Masat was chosen as the best prospect because of her 6’0 frame. While Masat didn’t dominate the game, you still can’t teach height. She showed some tentativeness at times and other times she played strong. She was occasionally playing from the wing and she seemed a little too straight-up or slow in her movements. But when planted in the post on a defenders body, she worked hard for position and showed toughness. Someone to keep an eye on for a D3 school or an NAIA hoping to develop a six footer. You can’t teach height.
Best Shooter –
Joy Rohrbach – Aberdeen Christian – (5’5/PG/2022) – Smaller player but still only a Sophomore. Comes from a strong basketball family background and you can see it in her shot. Aberdeen Christian’s best ball-handler, scorer, and shooter.
Best Athlete –
Dannyn Peterson – Hitchcock-Tulare – (5’8/G-F/2021) – More of an athlete than a true basketball player, Dannyn Peterson used her athleticism to make plays throughout the game. A left-hand dominant player that drove baseline numerous time to rise over defenders and finish with her left. Peterson had some great passes that set up players near the basket. Not much going to the right but she didn’t need to to get the results she was looking for.
Steals leader –
Elizabeth Salmen – Hitchcock-Tulare – (5’9/G/2020) Salmen was playing passing lanes and picking the ball-handler all night. She had to have somewhere near 6-7 steals. Many of them lead to transition plays for the Lady Patriots.
