At 6-foot-4, she’s not only a lot taller than most other girls, but she’s a lot stronger too. These traits are just a couple reasons as to why Peat has been a solid contributor for the Wolves on the court this year.
She uses her size to her physical advantage, especially when it comes to defense. She’s really good when it comes to boxing other players out and using her height to her advantage to get the rebound, and she’s usually able to block at least one shot per game.
Offensively, she’s a lot of times able to get some second chance points for the Wolves or gets the offensive rebound on plays. But one thing that Peat said she needs to work on is her shooting. Coach Skalitzky said she thinks that it’s more of a confidence thing.
“She’s got a good outside shot. She wants to stay in all the time and I try to pull her out just to be able to try to shoot some of those and I just don’t think she’s as comfortable,” Coach Skalitzky said. “She’s got a soft touch at the rim. Her free throws are amazing, but I think if we pull her out a little bit more and get her comfortable shooting those outside shots, it will open up her game inside and she’s gonna be able to dominate a little bit better.”
The other thing that Peat said she’s been working on this season is increasing her speed up and down the court. She said each sprint, she tries to shave time off.
“Each sprint we do, I’ll try to decrease by a second just working at getting faster up and down the court everyday,” said Peat.
Peat says her strength lies in reading the court and helping to set her teammates up for the shot when they cut to the basket and posting up and playing with her back to the basket.
“She has great feet for a big. When she actually moves her feet and she can cut to the basket, she has great feet,” Coach Skalitzky said.
